This is common and no it is not normal to be mildly anaemic. Iron levels are measured by serum Ferritin and < 15 = iron deficient.
WHAT TO DO?
- you cannot eat your way out of iron deficiency.
- You do not have to eat meat but you do need to look at your diet for the future
- You need help and this is iron tablets; one a day (65mg elemental iron) is enough for at least 3-6 months If they cause side effects then try alternative days
- Check with GP about other causes of blood loss
